Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” (John 6:9)

First of all, this boy has a good mama. You know, one of those mamas that pack half the fridge for her son’s first day at school.

Should I pack the cheese stick or the pudding? Okay he gets both.”
“Apple or banana? Okay, half an apple and half banana.”
“Chocolate milk or orange juice? O.J for on the bus, and chocolate milk for lunch.”

Mama wants to make sure her boy is fed.

In my imagination, this boy had a bulging sack full of edible love from his mama. I imagine him being a curious little guy, smart too. Noticing who Jesus was, figuring out who his true disciples were. I imagine him trying to stay real close as they followed Jesus around. Then he hears the conversation:

Jesus, with a light hearted smile, bright confident eyes, (because He knew he was about to display God’s generous heart!) said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?

Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!”

*boy moves himself in front of the disciples and Jesus, and he opens his lunch box*

*boy clears his throat*:   My mama always taught me it’s better to give than receive.”

Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up,  Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”

The boy positioned his hands in surrender of his lunch box and as soon as it transferred from his hands to Jesus’ hands it became a consecrated lunch box.

A regular lunch box shared could have maybe given 5 people a snack.

A consecrated lunch box? Well, nothing is impossible when surrendered into the generous hands of Jesus!

Day 27: Truth Liberates

Meghann Easley   It’s interesting, isn’t it, how Shame tiptoes in. It slides through the crack in an open door and paralyzes you like a snake. It doesn’t need to even whisper, you know it’s there, behind the eyelids, under the shadows, lights on and curtains opened...

Day 19: Consecration of Gifts

Day 18: Innocence Lost; Forgiveness Required

Day 17: The Priesthood of Every Believer

Charlie Fiskeaux In ancient days, very few men talked with God. Even fewer walked with Him. Humanity again and again would forget or turn its back on God, and God would have to intervene to save humanity from its own evil. So God called Abraham to father a nation—the...
