“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”  (Romans 15:13)

Last year was certainly the hardest year of my life. Losing a baby, and walking through that grief, brought more sorrow than I honestly thought I could bear. BUT GOD! God was so near in that time. In the days after the miscarriage, I had a vision of the Lord in a wooden rocking chair next to my bed. He brought this peace over my body that could only have been from Him. Oh, the Father’s love. There have most definitely been hard days of grieving, but keeping my faith and trust in our ever-so-near Father was what carried me through.

I’ve been told that my ability over the last year to keep going like I have, to not be angry, or to not give up was incredible. The truth is that it most certainly wasn’t me. I had nothing left to give or to fight, but my hope was in the Lord. He renews strength. (Isaiah 40:31) So I kept hoping and trusting. I gave my heart and mind over to Him. And you know what? I was filled with JOY and PEACE.

The world tells us we can do it all. Finish the to-do list. Get yourself out of that rut. Reach that goal. All on your own. You can do it all! You’ll be happy once you do x, y, and z. But the Bible doesn’t say to live in your own strength and produce your own joy. In John 16:24, Jesus says, “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” Complete, y’all! All we have to do is ask. Consecrate your heart to the Lord, and let him fill you with a joy that can only come through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Day 17: The Priesthood of Every Believer
